Club President 2006

In the late 1960's some forward looking members of Carshalton Rifle Club took the plunge and decided to take advantage of a grant form local/central government towards the cost of a new indoor rifle and pistol range to provide a permanent home for the long established club. In those days Sutton Council insisted on having a Councillor on the Management Committee and as a competitive shot I was the obvious choice.

As a result of the foresight of a few, a lot of people have enjoyed rifle and pistol, (until the stupid change in the law) shooting for 30 years in a well appointed and friendly club. Since then your committee has made major improvements to the building and it is now one of the best pure shooting clubs in the country. I had to give up shooting a few years ago as my eyes had deteriorated, but I know that in spite of the obstruction of government, both parties, Carshalton has flourished and is even more popular than when it moved to its present site.

I look forward to the next milestone of 50 years in Beddington when we will have even more to celebrate.
