Chairman, Carshalton Rifle Club 1998-2008

When I was asked to compile my memories of the last 50 years of the club, I soon realized that it was like asking me to write an autobiography. I will resist that temptation, but nevertheless, I have to admit, the sport of target shooting has been a big influence in shaping my life.

In the late 1960's some forward looking members of Carshalton Rifle Club took the plunge and decided to take advantage of a grant form local/central government towards the cost of a new indoor rifle and pistol range to provide a permanent home for the long established club. In those days Sutton Council insisted on having a Councillor on the Management Committee and as a competitive shot I was the obvious choice.
